Hiya: A Modern and Nature-Inspired Office Design

Creating a Vibrant and Inspiring Working Space

The inner courtyard of the building is full of plants, which inspired designer Tamas Csiszer to incorporate nature throughout the entire design process. The goal was to expand the green area and create a comfortable and cozy office for the workers.

This 300 sq ft office area, located on the 5th floor of a 6-storey office block, was transformed into a modern and nature-inspired workspace. The design team, led by Tamas Csiszer, faced the challenge of rebuilding the entire area for their client's IT programming company. The lilac color and shape of the company's logo served as the starting point for the design, which aimed to create a barrier-free and well-equipped office.

To bring nature into the office, three artificial trees were strategically placed around the existing pillars. These lifelike trees not only added a touch of greenery but also eliminated the hindering effects of the supports. Additionally, artificial flowers were placed in acid-etched glasses, creating a mysterious and natural ambiance.

The office features a prominent oak panel wall with a highlighted vein, serving as a background for the gloss acrylic letters of the Hiya sign. This design choice accentuates the logo and creates a connection to nature, just like the plants and artificial trees in the office. The demolition of the suspended ceiling and the installation of a rail lamp system with positionable lights and pendants add an industrial touch to the space.

The office's corridors are illuminated by LED panels decorated with cloud designs, providing natural lighting and a visually appealing element. The glass doors feature a circuit pattern, allowing visitors and employees to easily identify the different functions of the company.

The design process involved consultation, site visits for measurements and photos, and meetings for further information. Drawings with specifications and documentation were presented, followed by a price quotation submission. The construction project included demolition, site visits, shopping trips, and product deliveries.

The Hiya office project started in May 2017 and was completed in November 2017 in Budapest. The design team, consisting of Tamas Csiszer, craftsman Akos Szimmer, and craftswoman Georgina Viola, successfully integrated and combined themes to create a vibrant and inspiring working space. The office now offers an active social lifestyle to the employees, with the flexibility to utilize different areas instead of fixed desks.

Hiya office design has received recognition for its excellence. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2018 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Hiya office design stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and contribution to a better world.
